South Capitol Bridge Project Structural Analysis and Load Rating Washington D.C.

Description

A&A Consultants, Inc. performed Structural Analysis and Load Rating using Allowable Stress Design method, PennDOT’s BAR7 program, and STAAD software. Completed the structural design of demolition through phases of construction, design of temporary decking and “false work” as required to maintain constant consistent traffic flow throughout the construction of new bridges for the heavy traffic areas.

Analysis of various options of temporary deck. FRP bridge deck, L.B. Foster Deck, and Concrete with stay-in-place form deck. These three types of decks were evaluated from cost-effectiveness and the required strength of the girders. Strengthening of existing girders were designed.
